Hi,
I have a friend in Ohio who is reaching the end of his 6 year on H-1B by June 10. He has filed to recapture about 2-3 months of his time outside of the US from the past 6 years. That request has not been approved yet.
From an employment perspective, apparently it is OK as long as you have filed and the filing is not frivilous. However, being in Ohio, experience before this recapturing tells us that DMV they will only renew your driver license up to the validity of his I-94 (June 10). What kind of paperwork do we need to show to Ohio's DMV to have it extend the driver license for another 2-3 months?
Would a letter from the lawyer do? He does have Receipt Notice of his filing, but that doesn't say anything specific about the dates.
