Reapplying for GC after abandonment.

I got my green card before marriage. My wife got the green card in June 2003 independently thru her company. I took US citizenship in Feb 2003.

Now I'm planning to go back to India to take care of my parents. If we decide to stay in India for some time (> 2 years), she'll have abandoned her permanent residence.

Later if we do decide to come back and I apply for her green card (via spouse category), will there be any problems? I assume that'll take maximum 4 months.

But the question that can arise is that in what visa she will re-enter the US if she applied already for an immigrant visa in the past and then lost it because she abandon it?

I found another over the internet...and a person after abandonment is consider as a non-immigrant status and apparently the person should apply for the immigrant visa again. But as I said you should check all this with a lawyer I am not, I just make a search over the internet.
