This is a must read for non-immigrants as well as green card holders. Getting drivers license would be very difficuly. Even green card holders can be deported for some kinds of actions committed. Less said the better for non-immigrants, asylees and illegal immigrants.

Why's isn't anybody crying foul

This bill seems to have a lot of crap that effects all of us, including those of us who have our Green cards.

Its been sneeked in still no one seems to care.

We contribute so much to the country, economy etc but repetadle have our rights taken away!

This is the most discriminating bill that could ever be passed !! What's gonna happen to the well-being of immigrants? Alot of people use their driver's license for employment purposes, travelling etc. It's ridiculous !! Immigrants are building this country more than the Americans are. Why discriminate? The economy would be affected by this a great deal. Watch and see................

Can you explain me in what part of the Real ID Act discriminates immigrants on driver's license?

In the bill there is a part about even take in account people who are in adjustment of status process, now is up to the states make efforts to have systems so they can check with databases from DHS (including USCIS).

My personal view is that will be very difficult that for such a few period of time that all states will have time to comply with the new bill. The other point is what will happen with the people who are just going to visit for two weeks and need to take several planes to go to their destinations and don't have an ID card.

I am sorry but I read even the original bill from the papers of Congress and still don't see the point that will affect legal immigrants.

Thanks,

Now in reference to the other issues of the Real ID Act definetly the part that more concerns me is the immigration appeals because include the non criminal acts and the "no chance" of appeal which is not right. But I just don't understand why so much publicity on the driver's license issue when is not to big a deal in change of what is right now, when the most publicity and debate should focus in the other issues that affect legal immigrants and genuine asylum cases.
