Hi,

How long ago should I get employment letter from company? If there is any risk to be laid off, should I get employment letter around 2.5 month ago? Is it too early? Can someone please post their experience when to get employment letter?

thanks!

There is no set limit for getting the employment letter. General rule of thumb is preferably not more than 30 days prior to flying to your home country for the CP interview. I will be getting mine the week I fly for my interview. Remember that the employment letter needs to be notarized and have your employer get it notarized before giving it to you.

Why does one have to notarised employment letter when it is original on company letter head
thanks

Notary in Letter

I got my employment letter notarized from employer. I have two doubts about it.

1.Employment letter has two sheets. First sheet has the details of offer, salary ..etc. and second sheet has the notary signed. Do you think it will be a problem because there is no notary signed in the first sheet? just curious.
2.My employment letter states something like this. “ Mr. XX is current working ….. with an annual salary of $xxxxx and will continue to be employed….. .” Later it stated as “He will be paid an annual salary of not less than $YYYYY in this position”.
My current salary $xxxxx is slightly higher than LC//I140 requirement (which is $YYYYY). Is it ok to say what I am making right now and what I am going to make after I got immigrant visa.

Thanks for your comments.

Normally if a notarized document overflows into a second or subsequest sheets you should find the notary signature and seal on every page.

It is difficult to foresee the consular officer's reaction to the format you have. There is really no need to use two(2) sheets of
paper for this letter. It is ok for you to be drawing a salary that
is different from the LC salary.

If your current salary is higher than the LC salary mention, then your letter should mention the current salary rather than the LC
salary.

Should the employer letter contain the job description?

Thanks

msns,

This is the format I carried and believe I posted on the forum, and it worked fine for me.

To answer the other post, though it is not a requirement , it does
not hurt if you include one or two lines about the actual responsibilities of the person.

The basic requirements they look for are:

*The position being the same as in LC.
*The position being open for the candidate.
*The nature of the position being permanent.
*That there is a promise to pay the agreed salary.( if the current
salary is higher mention that rather than the LC salary).

Rest is open.
