Re-taking PR photos-Appointment or Mail?!

Guys
I landed back in August this year. We (I and my wife) spent a couple of days in Canada and went back to US where we are now. Initial plan was for our friends in Canada to receive our PR cards and then send them to us by mail to our US address.
Up to now we received PR card for my wife and the immigration authorities sent a letter requesting a photo re-take for me. They scheduled an appointment for the re-take that we missed because their letter came too late, after the appointment date. Anyway we couldn't go, because we are out of Canada.
I am wondering whether we could just send new photos by mail or the only option that the authorities allow is physically showing up and getting photos re-taken?
No need to stress how important for us would be to be able to just send new photos, as we are out of Canada and can't go to an eventual newly scheduled apointment.
Anybody has any info on this?
Thanks a lot guys I appreciate any input on this.

you have to attend personally

Hi,

This is from my personal experience. Same thing happened to us. We have landed in Toronto back in August. We have to re-submit our daughter's photo. We have received a letter saying that if we attend on so and so date, they will take the picture at their office, if not we have to submit the correct photo. Initially I thought that we can submit the photo at any port of entry. We went to Ottawa, and stopped at the immigration office, they told me that they can not take the picture just like that, because the complete amplification was located at office that was mentioned in the letter. Plus the officer at Ottawa also mentioned that we have to submit the photo before the date that was mentioned in the letter. For us, the letter says within the 6 months. So we drove from Ottawa to Toronto and went to the same office that was mentioned in the letter. We have submitted the photo, and signed on the new application. So basically they have prepared the new application for my daughter that is exactly look like the application that we have originally signed during our landing process. We have to sign within the white space.

Hope this helps!!!
