My mother is a GC holder and I have been waiting for many years since I applied for adjustment or at least that what I think. The funny thing is that I received a letter from my lawyer that says : I reviewed your file. In order to submit your application for adjustment of status, we need the following documentation from your financial sponsor. tax returns for 2005, 2006, 2007, job letter and the last two (2) pay stubs, and copy of the birth certificate, or naturalization certificate, or green card of the sponsor is also required.

Now, I do not know what to make of this letter. can somebody guide me through this mess I am in ??? :o

i do not know what to make of your post.

You need to tell us what your legal status is, what country you are in, based on what did you file for a GC, etc...

it seems as if, your mom applied i-130 for you? and now it is finally time for you to file i-485 (once the i-130 priority date is current).

The letter is from your lawyer, not USCIS. Talk to the lawyer if you are confused about a letter from them. Maybe you filed something that you thought was the adjustment of status, but it wasn't? If you already filed for adjustment of status, you should have an I-485 receipt and obtained other benefits like an Employment Authorization Card.
