Hi
My daughter born outside USA and she came back with my wife to USA last month, We did not received her GC Yet.is there any way to get the Re entry permit for her without the A number. In her passport they stamped tempory I-551 but no A number.
Thanks in advance

Make an Infopass appointment to inquire about her green card and A#. Bring your GC, plus your daughter's birth certificate and passport to the interview. And her Social Security card if it's been issued (or at least write down the Social Security number).

thank you very much Jackolantern
she didnt get her Social Security card yet. is dat ok to file re entry permit without SS number?

Did you answer YES on form DS-230 that you wanted the SSN issued? If yes, the SSA should have assigned the SSN by now and can tell you what the number is, even if they haven't printed and mailed out the card yet. Visit the local SSA with her passport and birth certificate and ask them for her SS number. Also ask if they've mailed the SS card.

You can apply for the reentry permit without her SSN. I only brought up the SSN because if you know it, that makes it easier for them to look up her A-number when you're at the Infopass appointment. The A-number is more important for the reentry permit.

My daughter came with my wife and she says the officer at the POE took my daughters documents and said he applied her GC and he didnt talked any thing about SSN.

So it looks like your daughter got permanent resident status through the special provision for children born abroad to permanent resident mothers, which allows instant LPR status for the baby at the POE without having to go through processing at the consulate for an immigrant visa. If your daughter went through the consular processing route instead of using that provision, you would have submitted form DS-230 to the consulate, which has a question about whether you want the SSN to be issued.

Visit the Social Security office to inquire about the status of the baby's SSN. If the SSN was not already issued or at least requested, apply for one. Download and fill out form SS-5 ( http://www.socialsecurity.gov/online/ss-5.pdf ) and bring it to the SS office so you can hand it to them if you need to apply for the baby's SSN.

You don't need the baby's SSN for the Infopass or reentry permit, so if you don't find out the SSN when you visit the SS office, go to the Infopass anyway and try to find out about the A# and green card. Hopefully they can look it up using the baby's passport number or name + DOB + country.
