Re-Entry Permit and Address Change

I am planning to go India for more than 1 year, and I do know that I need to apply for Re-Entry Permit before leaving US.

Do I need to apply for form AR-11 (Change of address) to Home Land Security Department (INS) ?

Should I use my friend's address as current address while I am out of US? or should I use my Indian Address?

You need to get (or apply while you are in US) if you plan to stay in India for more than a year. In the application for reentry permit you can opt to collect the permit, if approved, at the US consulate in India. But if it is not approved within a year, better come back within a year to US and then go. In any case, you have to take a chance and it is risky.
