Re-entering with AP, I-797 but no EAD

Hi,
Has anyone re-entered the country with only the AP, I-797 (No H-1 visa stamp) and no EAD?

My H-1 visa stamp expired a long time back but I do have a valid H-1 to work. I was planning to use my AP to go out and come back in.

You don't need any supporting documents for AP!

carry your I-485 receipts.

all you need is AP

just came back yesterday, port of entry seattle.

gave the IO my passport and AP. Was done in less than a minute. no documents/questions asked!!
