I have been told that one can re-enter Canada without a PR card or a travel document through land border from US even if the landing document is stamped NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL. However he/she cannot board a commercial transportation to travel back to Canada.
The argument in favour is that "NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL" is an advice to commericial carriers and it has nothing to do with re-entering Canada in a private car etc. However it does not constitute a proof to a commericial carrier that one has a right to be admitted to Canada as they have been advised accordingly.
I would appereciate experts comments or any personel experience.
