Re-Called for fingerprint

Hi,
I went for B1/B2 Visa interview at US Consulate Chennai and everything happened smooth. Paid the required fees. And i was waiting for passport with visa to be delivered to me by courier.
But after couple of days of interview date. I got a call from Consulate telling me that i have to come back to US consulate Chennai for Fingerprinting.
I'm not sure why i need to go back as i had provided fingerprints while i was in consulate for interview.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Does anyone know the reason behind it?

Ok got the visa.
Consulate systems messed up my fingerprints so had to go again for fingerprints.
But result was good, They handed me over my passport with visa.
