Dear friends,
I need an emergency AP to visit India, its extreemly important, my father is seriously ill. My case is close to approval (???). Is it safe to leave USA in such a case. I leave in LA area. Where should I go to apply for emergency AP, LA or Santa Ana. Do they issue emergency AP in a day, or it takes some time. If anybody has any experience on emergency AP, please share. Any input on the overall situation will be very helpful.

Don\'t worry if you explain the situation you can get the AP on the same day

It\'s better to have a doctor\'s letter about your father\'s health when you go to local INS office. I don\'t think it\'ll anyway jeopardize your 485 if you travel on AP. So quit worrying about your GC and try to get AP ASAP....

I can understand your situation as I myself had gone thru it recently.....Take it from me....Just your presence will make your father recover from his illness....I pray to God for his recovery....
 
You get Emergency AP

You can get emergency AP if you go with a Doctor\'s Letter and 485 Receipt to the Local INS Office. You may have to go early (5:00 AM) and stand in the line for that.
By the way, whether it is safe or not, and whether you get AP or not, rush to India and be with your father when he is serious. That is the least you could do as a son, for all the pain he passed through to bring you to this stage.
I rushed to India when my dad was sick even without AP and I have no regrets.
 
I have doctor\'s letter and...

I am going to attach that with other AP documents. I am planning on going to LA office tonight. I switched the company after 180 days using EAD. I have never been out of status in USA, so I think there should not be any problem on re-entry. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It really helps.
