RD 3/15/2002 Approved today

Today is my lucky day. Our I-485 cases (self and spouse) are approved on Jan 22 as per the online and voice message. I have checked the status yesterday 4 times; it was showing the old FP1 received status. When I checked a few minutes ago, the web page has approved message. Called 1-800 number to make sure the approval. The recorded message changed to approved….

Here are the details of my I-485 journey:

1. Enter this country in 97 on H1B
2. Changed the employer in Sep 2000.
3. Applied for labor in Aug 2001
4. Labor approved on Oct 2001
5. I-140 applied on Nov 2001
6. I-140 Approved on Jan 2002
7. On bench for 2 months and delayed to file I-485
8. I-485 filed on 3/15/2002
9. Relocated to TX and updated address
10. FP1 in Houston TX on 4/27/2002
11. First EAD and AP approved some time in May 2002
12. Second EAD and AP approved on Feb/Mar 2003
13. Switched to another Employer in TX using EAD
14. Hired new lawyer
15. Moved to another apartment and updated the address, filed AR11
16. 2nd FP done on 10/22/2003
17. Applied for 3rd EAD and AP renewal on Jan 12, 2004
18. INS cashed the checks on Jan 20, 2004 for EAD & AP renewal
19. I-485 approved on Jan 22, 2004

Congrats. If one moves to a different state that falls within the jurisdiction of another Service Center as in this case, doesn't the case get transferred to the other Service Center? That;s what I thought. But you moved to TX and your case stayed with VSC.

We were also planning to move to TX but have been holding off as the 485 approval is still pending with VSC.
 
GC_lotto: I haved applied EAD using regular application not using online.


INS may transfer the cases to different service center or local offices randomly for an interview (as per my lawyer). Our cases did'nt transferred to TSC or Houston local office.
