how soon after one gets their GC thru an employer can one SAFELY quit without any consequences
This is what I understand:
There is no magic number whether in days or months. The underlying rule is, you should work for the sponsor. While everyone agrees this cannot be forever, no one has stipulated
any period.
If the decision is in your hand then it is safer to stay with the
employer for atleast 6 months after getting the GC.
If it is before that, the general understanding is, if the sponsoring company lays you off because of lack of business then it is OK.
You are advised to keep copies of all correspondence with the
employer.
But both Rajiv Khanna and Sheela Murthy have stated that
THIS ASPECT CAN BE an issue at the time of citizenship.
You know I am not an attorney and the above are my views only
and not to be construed as advise.
