hi guys i am new to the forum, but i will really appreciate it if i can get an answer for one question i have: i am about to be sponsored by an IT firm for an H1 visa from OPT , but i was wondering whether the fact that i used part of my first 2 months in OPT working in a bank, which is not related to my field, would somehow jeopardize my H1 application and later on my Greencard.
Thanks in advance for the help

OPT to H1

I hope I'm right but it is my understanding that as long as the company who is willing to sponsor you right now goes ahead with the processing of your H1B papers and doesnt bother about which company you worked for earlier, I dont think that two month period should pose any problems.

thanks G_139 for your quick reply, but i was wondering whether you or anyone knows the effect of an F1 student working during his OPT period in a field different from his major, whether this is regarded as a violation or not by USCIS and if it is what to do about it.
thanks again

I just want to ask you, as an international student, did you go for a bachelor or an associate degree. I'm going for an associate in programming but I don't know how much that helps. Thanks

hey alincosma,
i did go for bachelor, because that is better chances to get a job with it and i believe u cant get h1-b with an associate only.

Zack...you need not worry about where you worked for two months, usually they will just look for pays stubs for the company who has sponsered your visa.

Hope this helps.
