Quick Question about I-30

My wife is a US Citizen and is trying to bring her mother to the US. Her mother has a child who is 10 years old. Does he mother have to leave her child in her country or can the child come to the US on mother's visa?

The mother will receive her green card as an immediate relative of USC, but the child has to wait under F2A category after the mother receives her green card and files a petition for the child. Unfortunately, Derivative status does not apply for the mother and the child because the mother immigrates as an immediate relative of USC.
