I am currently an I485 applicant. My parents are planning to visit here. They are over 60 years of age and have already visited the US in 1998. At the time, they were given 6 months visa, which ahs since expired.
- Anybody has recent exp in helping their parents obtain visitor visa at Chennai consulate.
- What are the documents that I/they need to submit?
- Is it true that after June 30, everybody has to attend interview for biometric reasons?
- Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In general the documentation they should take with them should prove that you can support them while they are here. I send a copy of the i-485, W2 and two pay stubs. I also wrote a letter saying that my parents want to visit me here and i will support them.

One thing the counsalate was particular about was the dates. How long do they plan on staying and when.

In the end they got a 5 year multiple visa.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Which consulate was it and when they did they get it?

They applied August / September 2003. Islamabad, Pakistan.

For Islamabad, they have to submit passports and all other documents by mail. Then you get an interview date usually in a couple of weeks.

For my parents, they had a couple of minutes interview.
