Questions regarding the PR card

Hello,
I recived PR in the year 2002 February. I landed in Canada the same moth from US. After two weeks of stay in a relatives house we came back to India. (Since our US H1 6 year limit was expired.) Now I am working in India. I don’t have any plans to move to Canada right now. but at the same time I don’t want to loose the status.

I have few questions regarding my PR status.

According to my knowledge my PR status is still valid and I can go back to Canada before December 31st of this year without any problems. From next year , If I want to go to Canada I need to have a PR card.

I did not Apply for PR card until now.
My questions are,

1) Since I am in India now, Can I apply for PR card from India or do I have to go to Canada to apply for this?
3) If the answer to the above question is 'only from Canada', then my wife and I both are having PR status. Do we both need to go to Canada to apply for the card?
4) I was reading in some site that even If I did not apply for PR card before 31st, I can still apply for travel document for one time. Can I do this from India too? Does it apply to the people outside Canada?

Based on your replies I will plan accordingly.

Thanks in Advance

YES, you can apply from outside Canada, you need somebody in Canada to help you, I used a lawyer and it worked fine, my PR Card got approved two weeks ago, and I am going to Canada soon to pickup the cards. But I think you don't have the time to do it now! It is too late to apply from outside because you still need to go back before 31st of December. The best thing is to apply for Travel Document if you can't go to Canada before the end of this year.

When you travel back to Canada you can apply for your wife but she needs to fill in the application in India and get it notorized there. In my case I took my application to the Canadian Embassy and got it notorized there.

You can apply for Travel Document.

Hope this help. Please double check with others, I am just sharing my experiance.
Wish you luck.
