Questions Regarding EAD and SSN

1. My and my wife's EAD has got approved .Can she now apply for the SSN. Also what happens to the ITIN number that she has. Do we start using SSN for future tax purposes.
2. Can I take up additional Job since I have an EAD now( I plan on keeping the current Job).

Are there some other thing we need to do since both of us will be working on EAD now.
 
Yes you can apply for SSN and yes use new SSN for taxes.
If you are on an H-1B also it will become invalid once you use your EAD.

1.yes she can apply for SSN now, the ITIn will lapse, just send a copy of ITIN card(approval notice to IRS) along with a copy of SSN card after you get it, so that they can update thier records. Next year when u file taxes you will use the new SSN for wife. You might not be bale to file tha taxes electronically, if filing jointly (some crappy software issue they have).

2. as for keeping in mind.... well do remember to renew the EAd atleast 3 mths in advance so that u can use 90 day interim rule, but to be safe apply 6 mths in advance. put reminders on ur cell, pda, calendar whatever you use. It is very easy to forget.

3. you can work as many jobs as u can, as long as u use EAD for all jobs including the sponsor's (new I-9 for that). cause you cannot work on H1 for one employer and EAD for other

i dont think i have the approval notice of the itin, can we just send the itin card copy and the ssn copy. also where do we send this ...
as per the additional jobs, do i need to make sure that all my additional jobs also need to be in the same field for which my GC is going on?

Is renewed EAD issued after the expiration date of the current one?

If I apply for renewal of EAD 6 months in advance, and to continue employment I go and get the interim EAD 3 months later, and the EAD actually arrives after 4 months from the original date, does that mean the new EAD will be valid starting the expiration date of the first one or it will start when it got approved and hence wasting 2 months of overlapping..??

check irs website www.irs.gov for info (search for ITIN).

only one permanent job has to be in the same field rest can be in any area
