Hi,
Hope someone can help me understand my situation.
Here is my case situation, I applied GC for my parent with I-485 and I-130 concurrently.
09/07/2010 => Day 1 => Package received by USCIS Chicago
09/17/2010 => Day 10 => Email from USCIS with 2x receipt numbers MSC
09/17/2010 => Day 10 => Checks Cleared
09/17/2010 => Day 10 => Notice of Action Received
10/07/2010 => Day 30 => Biometrics Notification with 11/01/2010
10/12/2010 => Day 35 => Biometrics walkin in San Jose, CA father's done. Mom's name wrong.
10/13/2010 => Day 36 => Ask them to correct it, get Bio done.
10/25/2019 => Day 48 => Notice of AOS interview set for 11/24/2010.

My questions here are the following:
1. This notice said is "Initial interview", does it mean there may have other interview ? Will this interview get "approve" or "not approve" decision?
2. I notice others will have either EAD or AP done before AOS interview, why I got AOS interview without anything about AP I-131? Is it a good sign or bad sign?
3. In the letter, it has asked to bring all the documents like birth certificate, affidavit, etc; which I have already submitted; will those document available to the interviewer from USCIS? If yes, I may not need to bring the same document again.
4. Since I have filed I-485 and I-130 concurrently, any tough questions regarding that situation?
Thanks for the help !

Regards,
Kevin

The answer to your questions are:
1. The initial interview may result in an approval. However, if there is not enough information then they might call you up for a second interview. I would not get too worried over the wording.
2. Your timeline is short. USCIS takes about 90 days to issue a EAD and/or AP. I would not worry about it. Think of it this way, when the applications are received by USCIS the GC application goes in one pile, the EAD in another, and AP in another. Think of the GC pile is being processed faster.
3. You should of submitted a copy of the documents they are asking for (such as the birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc). They want to see the original. When my wife applied we had to send a copy of our marriage certificate. We came with the original and the officer noted in the file she saw the original.
4. They shouldn't have any questions regarding why you did I-130 and I-485 together. We did that and a lot of people on this board have done it. The law allows it.

Thanks for the info. That is really helpful. Regarding my 4) question, what I really mean is that they may ask for the reason my parent entered the US with non-immigraiton VISA and then apply GC. Someone raised that concern, just don't know what will be the best answer for it.
