Questions on sole proprietorship

Hi all, I will appreciate if anyone can answer my quetions.
My husband is a F-1 student here in California. I just came here for about three months, and my visa type is F-2. I am wondering whether it is legal for me to register as a sole proprietorship in US. And what does the restriction mean about a sole proprietor cannot work for himself in this business. Does this mean I cannot earn money from the business?

If I cannot own a business in US, how about my husband? Can he register as a sole proprietorship?

Thank you all, who can help me out, in advance. :)

Answer

F-1 Status states you cannot work legally apart from your university. F-2 is dependant on F-1, that means you cannot work again. He/She on F-1 has to get income either with permission from USCIS to work outside or has to work within Univ with work permit. Anything apart from that is illegal and can be deported immediately. Be careful
