Questions on reco letter

Hello all,
I am in the process of getting reco letters. I have read some of the previous posts and still have a few questions:
1. Is it better to have more reco letters from independent reviewers or those who know you well?
2. Is it better to get more letters from USA or outside?
3. Also, I am considering asking for letters from associate profs. Is this advisable for atleast 2 letters or all have to be from profs.
4. Some of the letters say that the work I am doing will have a great impact against something like "already has a great impact". Will that be ok too,
I appreciate every input from you guys.
Many thanks

As I read of TWMLAW site
" Be sure to include letters from peers who have not collaborated directly with the beneficiary. However, it undermines the claim to an international reputation when the peer reference did not previously know the beneficiary, but is writing the letter simply after reviewing her resume and publications. Therefore, a combination of letters from collaborators and mentors who describe the beneficiary’s reputation in the field, along with a few other letters from independent references who know the beneficiary’s work via their conference presentations or publications, is the best recipe for success"

FYI : Another other way to get around "the peer reference did not previously know the beneficiary, but is writing the letter simply after reviewing her resume and publications" is to make him actually write that he has read his scientific peer reviewed publications or has seen his scientific presentations or has relied upon the candidate's outstanding research work for developing his ideas. .... Bottom line one has to explain in brief how he knows the NIW candidate. Generally there would be only a few generous letter writers who would only write after reading some one's resume, which I believe, with all dues respect to THE WRITTERS, would not be so foolish to state "resume read as the reason".

Also on a related note, in last 5 years I have never seen USCIS sending an RFE to get letters from collaborators or peers. They generally discourage such letters and look down upon such letters (including letters from your surrent supervisors) since they are always biassed.

Please do not confuse between 3rd prong of NIW which indicates that you should be able to prove that you are better than your peers. This prong has to be proved with testimonials from independent experts and your achivements in National Interest

Well NIW 04 has valid point in saying that independent letters actually can establish third prong where as peer and collaborator letters just establishes ur goodwill with officer and help in proving ur outstanding status in ur circuit....well EB1-OR relies a lot in later but NIW relies on former.......on other side .....resumes plus papers plus citations can give writer good reason to write letters...i got 18 letters like that.....................

Thats correct !!! NIW04 has valid points!!!! We have good points to discuss here....I checked on AAO decision it was about Eb1-OR right!.......not for NIW!!!
PhD and Postdoc advisors are the best people who all can vouch for beneficiaries skills....it is important to get their letters...as lack of there letters can be taken as suspicious...........collaborators, peers letters can be skillyfully wooven in putting up your case.........as all I always beleive both Eb1-OR/NIW are all about presentations!!!!!
