Question 1: N-400 Part 5

Race: ??
Years ago when I applied for Grad schools from back home I marked my race as "Asian/Pacific Islander' which I later found out referred to People of Oriental lineage. Hence incorrect in my case.
Do Indians/BDeshis/Pakistanis have to select "Unknown" as Race.

Question 2. N-400 Part 10 D: Good Moral Cahracter

16. Have you ever been arrested, CITED, or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason

I had a speeding ticket 8 years ago. Do I indicate that here. technically a moving violation is a "citation".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Asian should be fine. Think other is for people who dont wish to reveal their nativity.

Yes you should. Traffic citation no big deal but you should mention it. (see couple of posts where people were asked during the interview if not mentioned on the app). Preferably you should have some documentation regarding that as well ( ticket or certificate of disposition) - just in case they ask during the interview.

driving citation

i've asked very good attorney about this & she insisted that civil [non-criminal] driving violations should be taken to interview but not declared on form.

Theres been quite a bit of debate on this in this forum - the only thing thats clear is that regular traffic violations (speeding, non-DUI that is) is not a factor for naturalization applications.

Even lawyers seem to be divided on whether to put this on N-400 or not - the way I see it, if it is to be revealed during the interview might as well put it on the form and clarify the type of citation and disposition ( speeding ticket, paid fine or contested or whatever) - that way it wont even bring up a question during the interview. The question & instructions does not make the distinction between civil & criminal infractions.
