Questions on "Backgroud Check"

Just called a tier-2 customer care.

She said my case is being processed and is still waiting "Backgroud Check" results. She also told me that it takes approximately 24+ month to process I-485.

My question:
I did my FP2 on August, 2003 (one month earlier than scheduled date). Does the "Backgroud Check" needs to be done again after FP2? In my case, I have already waited 2+ month after my scheduled FP2 date.

What is the difference between "backgroud check" and "security check"?

Why tier 2 operator can see this on their terminals? All of the operators I contacted said they can't see anything at all, besides is being processed.
