Questions about oath/passport and kids

Me and my wife are planning to take our kids 10 and 6 yrs to our oath ceremony at Chicago. But I have read somewhere that guest are asked to sit in seperate area. So do they make kids (10 yrs and less) sit in seperate area or by the parents taking oath?

My another question was related to passport application for kids. As per one of the posting by "Hanimi" I could make out that passport for the kids cannot be applied alongwith parents. Did anybody apply kids passport along with their own passport? Or parent have to apply for own passport and later apply for kid's passport?

Thanks,

Ashish

The best solution to the "what to do with the kids" problem is invite a friend who could watch them. Failing that, you could ask at the oath ceremony - I wouldn't be surprised if they let your kids sit with you. The woman next to me had a large toddler (maybe 4) on her knee most of the time (though the child had a chair). I got the impression that she just brought the kid and didn't ask anyone.

It seems reasonable to let the kids be with you - will all become citizens at once. If you do bring your kids, impress upon them the importance of the ceremony and the importance of good behavior :)

I couldn't figure out how to get multiple passports on a single natz certificate (I tried asking at two local post offices). However at least one person was able to do this. Go to the http://travel.state.gov and find out all the places near your that accept passport applications and see if they will let you do this.

Good luck
