Questions about name check

Hello! I'm one of the latest people to get stuck in namecheck. I have a few questions that I hope someone can help with.

1-does the namecheck just involve the FBI or do they check the country from where you came.

2-when are the namechecks started

3-how long do they normally take

4-what % of people get stuck past the normal time

thanks!! :)

some threads deal with some of this. but it would be great if if we get answers and then keep the tread as a stickyso new people don't have topost or spend 15 minutes looking at several threads.

1. some say the rreal delay is with foreign govt's. others say otherwise.
2. if not mistaken, after 9/11 it started to take longer.
3. don't know the shortest time, but in theory it should take no more than 120 days. some people wait like three years.
4. have no idea.

In most cases the check is primarily done on hits based on the various offices internal to the US.Unless they have a specific information they do NOT refer to FBI offices in foreign countries for info.In most cases it is a check with the interpol files. It is practically and physically impossible to check on info of every possible immigrant from the original country.
FBI databases abroad only identify people with potential threats to US.This is also linked to interpol.
Case handling times vary based on the number of hits.Try a google search of your name (last name, first name, birth day and country of origin) in US. If the hits are less...the possibility of NOT getting stuck increases.Yes the checking is more strict after 9/11 and more for men.Ultimately it depends on the person assigned to check your case.

I have a very unique name, but still, my name check took them more than 3 years to clear...after 9/11 they re submitted about 2 million names to re screen. 99.6% of those cleared, but the remaining 0.4% got stuck for years. There is no way to tell how long it will take. Most of them cleares within 120 days, the rest...who knows. It seems pretty random, has nothing to do with the country of origin.
thanks

I agree. Here is a case which I know of. He had a name which was unique both in US and his country..but to his badluck one of the guys in the nigerian scam was using the name as proxy..He got stuck for two years. He kept cursing the scammer for selecting his name.
I guess when they have a hit on specific aspects..they check out the various combinations.
Presently he is quite happy..says that his bad luck streak ran its course in the two years of namecheck and Now it has turned for the better.
