Questions about Interview Letter

Guys, Please help me clarify a few issues here.

I received the interview letter from Kansas City District office last week and have noticed a few items.

1. The letter says "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW"
Q. The word "INITIAL" bothers me, does this mean I am going to have more interviews or is this standard text?

2. There are two sections listing the documents that I need to carry.

What MUST you bring?
  • Interview Notice
  • Photo ID
  • Passports
  • Birth Certificates
  • All documents establishing eligibility (See second section below)
  • All immi-related docs ever issued
  • Translations etc.

What else should you bring?
  • All EADs and APs
  • Children's Birth Certificates
  • If married bring Marriage Certificate
  • Federal Tax returns and W-2's or IRS printouts for last 3 years
  • If employed, letter from current employer stating wages and Pay stubs for last 2 months.

PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT, even if you do not have all the listed items. If an emergency, etc. etc....
and blah blah blah...
-----------------

Q. Does this format look standard or does it look like I have been called for an interview because of the items in the first list and the most important one looks to be the "Birth Certificates"?

Any thoughts, any experience sharing is highly appreciated.

Thank you,

appears standard, though is detailed.

WaitinginQ, the interview notice is issued by the "district office". You might want to hollar the name of office, which could prompt appropriate people to answer. What i could asses from your info is the following:

- you'v been asked quite a lot of docs and details ... my guess is, you were NOT issued an RFE, which is why (and the word "initial interview" due to that). In my case, I was issued a detailed RFE which left nothing too much more really to ask/bring to interview.

- the items you have been asked, are standard. If i look at my interview notice, i can see (though for me they are not checked).

So if you were not issued an RFE, this is very normal, nothing at all to worry about. One little thing i notice, is you have not been asked to bring the new format photos. (neither am I, which a little bugged me ... but well).

Goodluck, keep us posted.

Thanks Litmu for your response.

This is at Kansas City office. The items in the list are all bulleted and there is no place to check/un-check them. So it may be standard as there are several items in the list that don't even relate to employment based cases.

If I am not wrong ,they use photographs that were originally submitted with the application. But I'll still be on the safer side and carry new format photographs with me.

When is your interview? Good luck with that and do share the experience.

thanks, my interview is sept 22, 2004 at bloomington, mn. will inform you all, what happens.
