Hello All,

I just had a quick question about applying GC for my mother who is currently in India.

1.Is it a better idea to ask her to come here on Visa and then start the application I-130 ? Her 10 yr VISa just got over and needs to be renewed. Or
2.its better to submit the I-130 instead of applying for the visa ?
would that be a CP instead of AOS ? which process is more easy and faster ?
3.If I apply for I-130 now, then is it possible to apply for Visa renewal ?

Thanks in Advance for your help.

Hi soham13,
1.No you can start on CP.
2.Yes. as an immediate relative of a US citizen and staying outside US through consular processing she can become a permanent resident.
When USCIS works with the Department of State to issue a visa on an approved Form I-130 petition it works out faster.she may then travel on the visa and will officially become a permanent resident when admitted at a U.S. port of entry.
3. So start Form I-130 process instead of visa renewal. Good luck.
