I was browsing through the H Visa thread this morning and came accross couple of threads that realy freaked me out.

According to the thread, a person can come back to US on approved H1b extension notice even if his stamped H1B has expired on his passport?

Gurus based on previous experience... Is this really true??

Becasue it clearly says on the approval notice that it cannot be used as a visa for entry into the US.

Thanks in advance

Yes its true. Some POE officers might considered and allow you to enter the country with I-797 document provided u have one previous visa which is expired.

It is always advisable to get the visa validated at St Louis, MO before making any international travel plans. Things have changed after 9/11, so it is not worth taking risk.
