Hi ,

As I understand that once a person gets her GC, she cannot travel outside the US for more than six months unless there is some prior approval.

Questions

--> Can a person travel oustide US let's say for 5 and 1/2 months return to US for a month and go back again for another 5 and 1/2 months ?

--> By doing as mentioned above the person may not prove their intention to stay in US as Permanent Residence. What does that mean ? Does it mean not being able to extend the GC for another 5 years if the person prefers to stay on GC and not take citizenship or this is only applicable for persons planning to apply for citizenship after 5 years.

The reason I am asking this questions is if a person finds a very good job outside US Can he keep working there and visit US for a month every 5 months and still keep he GC valid ?

Thanks

You may be able to stay outside with reentry permit for 2 years.

Of course - reentry permit always does not guarranty that your LPR will not be revoked( example - too many long travels outside the country using reentry permit).

If you opt for citizenship - you will not be able to add up the time you have spent outside the country towords citizenship.
