I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify the following:
I have a friend with NIW (I-140) approved who has also concurrently filed for I-485. Now he is considering switching to CP. I know that he will need to file an I-824. However, it appears that CSC is currently taking 1 year to process the I-824 - Is this true? Has anyone here had their I-824 approved recently?
If I-824 really takes so long, it might be better for him to stay with I-485.
Any advice is appreciated.

P.S. I believe that AC140 is not an option for him since he would opt for CP through Islamabad.
