Question regarding new Social Security card

Hi

After our CP interview we applied for a new S.S.card. I got my new S.S.card which still has the following text " valid for work with INS authorization". My previuos S.S.card while Iwas on H1B visa had the same text on it. I was told by my lawyers that I'll get a new S.S.card with the same S.S. number but without the above text.
Can someone please clarify whether the new S.S.card after getting the GC must have the above text or not?

Thanks
JK

that happens when INS has not updated your records. After passport stamping, When I went to get my SSN, the lady entered my A number, and there was no records. I filled in a form and told her to send it when INS updates my records. She said a plastic card would make no difference to my position.

I had the same issue. They informed me that INS has not updated the records. The lady at the SSN office took copies of my passport pages and said that she would send them to INS for verification after which it would take around 4 weeks to get the cards.

She did not give me any receipt back stating that I have applied for a SS card. Did any of you get a receipt?

She did not give me any receipt. But since I wont be needing an employment allowed card for a few years at the least, I did not fuss over it. BTW, one can use the I-551 stamp and DMV license for a new job.

Is SSN Number absoultely needed for employment?

My wife and I have applied for our SS cards and we were told that it would take around 4 weeks to get the cards.

My wife did not previously have a SSN and she has to take up a job in a couple of days. We haven't spoken to the company as yet about her SSN but is it possible for the company to issue an employment with the understanding that she would be getting her SSN within a couple of weeks?

Technically, is it possible to commence employment based on the I551 stamp in the passport?
