question regarding I-131 efile application

This is the first time I am applying for I-131 in 3 years. I was always on H1 and never used AP.

On the efiling page it asks:

1) when you want to travel out of country
2) Duration of travel.

DO they give the AP for these dates only? I am not sure of my actual travel dates yet nor I am sure how many days I will be out of country.

Can someone who has experience in efiling I-131 clarify ?

You can say any date like 3 or 4 months from now
2) Duration of travel.
30 days or 1 month

DO they give the AP for these dates only? I am not sure of my actual travel dates yet nor I am sure how many days I will be out of country.
No they will give for 1 year validity
Can someone who has experience in efiling I-131 clarify ?

Hi,

I am also on H1 but I am going to renew my 3rd AP (for backup ). When I checked my previous I-131 application (applied my attorney in Aug. 2005 for last AP). The attorney mentioned

the departure date as "Upon Approval" &
Duration as "Not more than 8 weeks"

The attorney did not put any dates. Hope this helps.

These dates don't mean anything - the AP validity would not be related to these dates in any way.

Just put a date about 4 months (say Nov 2006) from when you apply and say the duration is 4 weeks.

Regardless of what you put in, your AP would be valid for one year from the date of approval.
