Question regarding duplicate passport

Guys,
I have a situation here.
a) The passport and visas are lost
b) Applying for a H1 transfer ( joining another company)
c) Applied for duplicate passport
d) Applying for copy of i94 and visa
d) I have the copies of my previous passport and visa

Questions-
a) Do i need to wait till i get my duplicate passport and visa before applying for H1 transfer
b) Do i need to wait till i get my duplicate passport before applying for copies of i94 and my approval notice

No to both Qs. But it will be better if you get the duplicate passport first. Dire circumstances require dire actions.

DO you have to go in person to apply for duplcate passport ?

Yes you have to go in person...how did you lose it...theft or carelessness

Theft.
Sent it to St. Louis for stamping.
Lost in the mail. The package was delivered open without the PP in it.
Thought these things happen in India only.

Rasmeek, just curious to know. What kind of service did you use for mailing? Fedex, UPS??

I used USPS - PM . My bad.

I think the fedex is the best for mailing PP.
