hello guys,

i had a question reagarding the bills I need to compile for the interview. The utilities we have at our apt. are cable, telephone, electricity, DSL and cellphones.

The telephone adn electricity bills have both our names on them. The cable and DSL are in my husband's name. For the cellphones we have a family share plan and my husband's name appears on the acct, b'cuz i was added to his acct., but both are cell phones nos appear on the bill.

Now, the question I have is that is all this ok, or the do we need the bills to be on each of our individual names? the posts i have seen so far, both husband and wife have some bills on their names each.

I would really appreciate if somebody could help me out with this!

Thanks...

Shared utility bills dont hold much importance. You need to focus on big things like joint bank accounts, joint lease/mortgage, joint ownership of assets and financial responsibility (like life/auto insurance).

This list of required bills is not clearly defined by USCIS or anyone. It is purely based on word of mouth from people who have attended the interview. Sometimes the officer asks, sometimes they dont. Not having bills under both names is not a criteria for the GC to be denied.

Good Luck for your interview

If we are talking about criteria, then there is no criteria of having joint any thing. All you have to prove is that your marriage is bonofide. However, these are the things which can help in proving that. Answering main quetion about not having joint cell phone & other bills it really don't matter. Keep the one you have both names on separate pocket of the file. Show it first. If DOA asks for more proof, show other and explain. Take whatever you have showing that you share the same address., just in case.

Thanks ari4u..we do have joint bank accts, lease, auto and life insurance docs...But reading other members posts, where they talk bout the bills being on each of their names, i was just curious if the both r names appear on a bill wuld be ok.
