Question regarding AP.

I finally got my AP approved and received. I have 2 questions
1) Both copies are identical with my photo on it. Am I supposed to receive 3 copies or are there others who recieved and used 2 copies without any problem?
2) It doesn't mention on it whether it is single or multiple entry, but having 2 of them, would mean that it can be atleast used for 2 entries. Is that assumption correct. I am curious about it, coz my wife who got her AP fromt he local office received 1 with photo which speifically states it is multiple entry in abox.
TIA

Hi OmGV,

I got 2 identical copies myself in both times I applied for AP. I know other folks who got 2 copies also. I don't know anyone who got 3 copies. Take both with you when you travel (make a few copies so if airline wants a copy). When you come back, give both to the agent, who will stamp both, keep one copy and return the other copy to you. If you travel more times using the same AP, they should return it (the one stamped the first time you used it) to you each time.

Thanks for the reply.

So one copy would be retained by the POE by US Immigration officials?

There is a lot of information out there on AP's in the archives, please do search them which will help answer most of the questions you have.

But once again:
1. The reason you have 2 and not 3 copies of the AP is because, some time ago, INS changed from issuing single entry AP's to multiple entry AP's.
2. No one should take a original AP from you, stamped or otherwise, but sometimes airline/immigration officers, do try to take a copy in which case you should polietly refuse and hand them a copy of the AP.
3. As for multiple not exisiting in a box all by itself. Please read the entire receipt clearly, you will see a Box above your photograph, and there will be the words Authorization which will explain exactly the validity of the AP.

Once again I request you to search archives before posting generic questions on the forum.
