Hi,

I really appreciate this forum. This forum helps me to find out my problem.

I have two quesiton about " Police Record & Clearance Letter".
I got this document from a local police station in Japan but I think I might do wrong.

1) Could I submit this as my requirement document when I have my
interview?
According to my friend (from Japan), I should have to get it from
Japanese Consulate becasue I live in the US with working visa now.

2) Do I need go to a local police station here(US) to get a similar
document too? If so, when I can do that?
My lawyer said this to me, but I could not get details yet.
They are always busy;hence, anybody in their office cannot give details
of CP steps.I would like to prepare myself for my interview with out any
time loss.

Respectfully,

I think you could have applied for the PCC to the Japanese consulate in the US. But if you already have the PCC from a local police ststion in Japan, you should be fine. But not too sure about that. If you already have the PCC from Japan, there could be no harm in getting one again from the Japanese consulate in US. Ypu can apply any time...but the PCC should not be issued more than 6 months from the date of your consular interview.

{You should note that our knowledge is based on our experieces with
consulates in India.

Having said that, for those residing in US at the present time what
would possibly be expected is a PCC from the respective Nation's
Consulate (Japanese in your case). We do not know how difficult it
is for you to get it from your consulate here in US. You may want
to approach them. On the other hand, I can not comment on whether
the PCC you have now is sufficient ....}

{You do not need to get a police clearance for your stay in US from US police authorities. They can and possibly would have already done this
background check on your file.}

is refresing! }

Dear bulandhausla and Raju:

Thank you for your prompt and useful reply.

Yes, I understand that most of information is for people from India;however, it is helpful and elaborate information for me. It helps me to know which step I am on and what I should do next etc...I think that you have a good knowledge for the immigration processing. I am glad to hear from you.

Thank you,
