Question on Registration for a PIO Card Holder

I know that a PIO card holder should register at FRRO/FRO if he/she stays for more than 180 days. But is it just ones or every 180 days?

E.g: Say if he stays for 5 years.
Should he register only ones after 180 days or say 10 times (ever 6 months)?

I have the same question. My understanding from what I have read so far is it is one time registration. Others may comment/confirm.. thanks

I believe it's one time, if one stays more than 180 days in a trip.

Also, I have an additional question. Do they stamp the Foreign passport? How do they know at the departure that one did Register?

I thought the same too (that one has to register only ones). But I cannot find this information being clearly stated anywhere.

I believe they give registration certificate that you need to give at the departure
