Question on Passport stampng after approval

Question:
My wife needs to travel urgently on an emergency and I can't get an appointment thru INFOPASS. Do you know if I can just walkin to the INS office with proof of emergency and approval letter and get passport stamping? Do I even need the appoval letter or can Ijust taken my I-485 receipt and email saying that EAC is approved?

When I went to Baltimore office on 1/11, the first thing they asked is the INfopass appointment. I think if you do have an emergency, you would probably be able to get in. I think you better have the approval letter, because the officer needs to stamped on the 797C to complete it. Good luck!
