Question on Naturalization....

Does the USCIS request that you submit birth certificates of your children born in the U.S. when you apply for naturalization?

What documents are usually requested from you for those that have applied for citizenship already?

I don't think so. You need birth certificate of your children if you apply for N-600 (application for certificate of citizenship for Children).

Thank you hm11...do you know what documents are required to be presented when filing for naturalization? I'm trying to get all that I need now before I apply...

Thanks...

Basically you need three things to attach with the N-400 application:
1- Copy of your green card
2- Photographs
3- and a check or money order (application fee)

However if you are applying on the basis of marriage to a US Citizen then you need to submit additional documents such as marriage certificate.

I would suggest that you read the Naturlization Guide on the USCIS web site and read Document checklist on page 52. Here is the link for your convinience:

Good luck.

Thank you again...I will be applying for myself without marriage...

I asked the question about the birth certificate because there is an error in my child's that I have to fix (my place of birth is wrong...the nurse put my place of birth as the state that I live in) and I didn't want that to affect my application for citizenship...could it?
