Can anyone give more details of the doctors medical examination? Do they aks any specific questions? Do you have to get undressed? What do they mean by any past issues? I was treated for TB two years ago. (Chest was clear) I have a small scar on my neck from the biopsy of the TB. Will they notice it and ask? Thanks.

Hey aonflux:

From what I've gathered from this forum (I've not yet had my medical examination), it's a pretty thorough physical exam. I believe at one point it involves undressing as well. My guess would be that it would be best to be upfront about past illnesses, including TB. If your chest X-ray is clear, then it shouldn't be an issue. Dishonesty or dissembling is probably best avoided. I'll let others with more experience add more. For instance, I have a positive tuberculin test. I've never had the disease, and before heading to India, I'll probably get a local chest xray and tests done to make sure I'm clear.

Best wishes.

What blood tests do they exactly do before the interview? Is it limited to testing for HIV and syphilis or do they do do other tests like a blood count and stuff like that? I'm asking this question cos i'm occasionally exposed to friends who smoke marijuana and worried if it might show up if they DO actually test you for that.
Thanks!

The tests are to find if you have any communicable diseases e.g., AIDS/STDs (blood tests) and TB (x-rays).

My reply.

It is actually a simple examination. They usually donot undress you ( unless they are suspicious about your gender). They check for vaccinations like MMR, Chicken Pox, Tetanus, Polio and hepatitis. Depending on that they will give you shots.

Tests are Tb test, chest X-ray, HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis

Donot worry too much about medical exam. It is a breez

Thanks Rajashekhar. By TB test you mean only chest xray right?
My chest xray was clear when I had TB.. i have all my medical records and a letter from my doc over here. But I wanted to know if they ask you specifically -- verbally or on a form whether u have had TB.

TB testt means PPD test, they give injection to skin and read after 2 days. If you already had TB, they will not do it again. They will do chest X-ray to document that it is clear. You have nothing to to worry. If X-ray is clear nothing to worry. Even if it is not clear they will suggest what to do. That should not prevent you from getting immigration

Hope it helps

Aonflux,

I just completed my medicals at Apollo Hospital in Delhi a few days back. For adults they have to undergo blood tests and chest x-ray (they do not give it to females who are pregnent). The doctor's clerical assistant asked us about our medical history and the vaccinations that we had take. History - were you hospitalized, do you smoke, did you have chicken pox, measles, malaria, mums, TB, Typhoid, Jaundice, etc - if yes, when. He then asks if you are carring your immunization records. If you are not then they would ask you to take TD and MMR shots. (I did not have any immunization records). He then completes the forms 3001, 3053 etc, the doctor then sees you - does BP check, Vision Check, Checks for Glands on the body, checks your reflexes etc. (No undressing). He then verifies what the clerk has written about your medical history. He may change the recommendation of vaccines. (he did so in my case reduced one). Got the reports after two days.

Hope this helps..
