Hi there,

I was not sure where to write this question, but since I'm fallen into LC category, I'll write my question here. So please disregard this if it's not appropriate in this forum..

I'm curious if I, H1 holder and LC applicant, am able to make money from selling flash components on a site like macromedia exchange.
I wanted to sell my components through their web site and when I registered it it asked my SS for tax purpose.
Does that mean if I make money it will become illegal since I'm only supposed to work for my employer? Since I never know what will gonna happen to my LC application and whole GC steps, I always feel insecure. That's why I was thinking about making money from selling my knowledge so that in case I have to leave, I can bring some more money with me.
Could anyone advise me on this topic?

Thanks.

I will do that.. I guess we have to wait until we get EAD or GC before jumping into another source of income...

I dont think there is a problem in doing business on H1. The only restriction is that you have to work for your employer sponsoring H1, and for the job specified on your h1. That does not mean that you cant do anything else to make money. You can even start your own company on H1 (you'll have to keep your job, though). You can do any kind of investments or business.
Just go for it !

Hi nshalady,
I definitely can keep my current employer so that's not a problem. But I want to make sure that making money on my own doesn't break current immigration law..
So as long as I work for my employer that sponsoring me on H1 and GC, that shouldn't be a problem? It sounds too good to be true. :)
