I brought no IRS documentation with me and passed the interview with no problems. But check on this forum for what tends to happen in interviews at your specific DO. Different DOs seem to address the question differently of whether you need to show evidence of having filed tax returns and/or having paid your taxes.

Don't take any chances...bring all your relevant documents including the IRS tax transcripts (or copies of filed income tax returns). If you are married the IO will ask for them. And even if he doesn't ask, it's better to be ready just the same. Or you risk having a big delay in getting your case decided as you may be asked to produce more documentary evidence later on. The point is you should anticipate the worst case scenario and see how you can make it easier for the IO or the supervisor to adjudicate your case. Those IOs will like you if you make their job easier for them. For example, in my case, I did a lot of travels during the last five years so I photocopied all the pages of my passports as I anticipated that they would check the dates. True enough the IO gave me a big smile when I said I have already made the copies and he took and included them in my A file.

I agree. I brought most of the documents that I can think of for my interview, though the IO asked only GC, DL, IL & Passports - But I was happy that I had all the documents. During my interview she was enquiring about my Birth certificate, but later she checked my A file and it was there. Since all my originals/copies with me, I even offered a copy if she did not have. To make this short, you will be more confident if you have everything with you during interview.

Thanks,
