Hi,
Thanks to all guys who share their knowledge on this forum.
On L1B with employer A in US now.
Plan to file H1B with employer B.
Current L1 expires June. L1 extn also being filed by A in May . Won't get receipt till May end.
At time of filing H1B, the I-94 is not valid till Oct, so can't file simultaneous CoS.

Can I do stamping in Mex or Can? is it easier than Chennai?
Can I file a H-1 amendment after I get L1 extension?

Is there a possibility of L-1 getting cancelled too if I appear at consulate for H-1 stamping? If there's a prob with H-1, can I come back here with L-1?

Thanks

Yes, you can stamp the H-1B in Canada or Mexico (apart from your home country). Some consulate like the one at Halifax, NS, Canada does not stamp the first time H-1Bs. Once you stamp the H-1B at a consulate and travel back tot he U.S. the previous status is overridden. If the stamping is denied (worst possible situation) it depends what action was taken on the existing L-1 visa. If that was not canceled, only then you can use that to enter U.S. and your I-94 duration will be the validity of that visa.
