question on change in status to GC

Hi..hoping someone can answer this. I am still on H1-B according to the I-9 with employer. That expires Aug 15 2005 ..( 6 yrs up-didnt file any extension etc). I didnt change to EAD also..figuring I'd wait and see since GC was under process.

Now I got the email saying I-485 was approved on July 8..no confirmation by regular mail yet.
Should I wait for the actual card to change my I-9..and since it might take awhile , switch to EAD now? Or can I directly fill the I-9 saying I got the GC?
Reason I ask is , that I am not sure if the GC is valid from approval date according to the UCSIS web site ..or when they actually order the card etc?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
 
Congratulations

As soon as your I 485 approved, you are no longer in H1b. GC valid from approval date, not from PP stamp or card arrival. Whenever you get PP stamping or card you can inform to your employer with filled and signed off I-9 form and copy of PP stamping or card.
