Question on AOS: H4 to H1

I filed I-485 for myself and my wife. I still have valid H1 and wife is on valid H4. None of us used EAD. Is it possible for my wife applying for her own H1B if she find a job? We don't want to use EADs just in case something bad happens on I-485. I appreciate your comments.

yes she can apply for her H-1, but her H-4 will count to the 6-year limit;
she can also switch to EAD (she will loose H-4) and if something happens to your I-485 and you will still have valid H-1, she can switch back to H-4 but she has to apply one more time
