question on 485 portability

To forum Gurus,

I had asked this question before, but did not get any replies. Is there any restriction for changing jobs for an EB1 (Multinational Executive / manager ) category I-485 petition holder. I am past the 180 day rule and am still in the same company who sponsored my L1 and Green card application. My 140 has also been approved last year.

I may get laid off in my job and hence the question.

AC21 is for every EB category. So you are safe to change your job. There have been a lot of transfers in the EB1 category though. Be prepared for that. So when you are moving to a new place, move to a place where the transfer takes less time.

many BCIS officers do not know what you are talking about. They are not so knowledgeable as you are. They would simply reject your 485 if they see you changed your empolyer. And, you have to appeal...

this is why many guys stick at one place even they could move.

Thanks for the replies. It is encouraging that I can user the AC21 rule. I will take care of the transfer constraint, if I am able to do so, by taking a job within the same service center area of control.

AC21 is not a law

Also it is new. So, there have been differing opinions about the outcome.
 
Recenlty INS has come out with the interpretation of AC21. Look at the top of all the messages where there is "Important info".
