question in responding RFE on legal status

Is I-20 enough as proof of legal status for the F-1 period?
Or I need to get hold of my old school to get transcripts, verification letters, etc.? -- this could take some time, so I want to send the I-20 only.

If you were on F-1 you are supposed to study - so please furnish the evidence that you studied the necessary courses.
