Question for Name Check Stuck People

What is ACLU

I don't know what is ACLU. I am very intersted in doing everything I can to get out of the name check trap.

MY RD is 08/2002

Guys:

My name check has been stuck in FBI for more than two years. let us united and do everything we can. What is ACLU? Let us hire an lawyer to file a lwa suit. It is ridicous, this is the worst efficiency in the world.

Mani, You can contact senator to get your status. Thats how I found out.

I agree we should find out what can we do as a group.

ACLU: The American Civil Liberties Union may be able to help. However, we need get together all the solid information--the number of people waiting, the period of time they have been waiting, and the emotional and physical and financial stresses this is causing.
I will be happy to put together a letter of appeal to the ACLU--but I need all the relevant information.
If anyone wants to help me, i am happy to get this started.

I am also stuck.

Guys, I am also stuck into this never ending wait of Name Check from a long time now. And not sure what to do about it. Kind of lost the hope. So if we can do something together, that will be great.

Count me into the name-check waiting class.
My wife's name check was cleared in Dec. 2002 ( Our RD is June, 2002) but it seems taking forever to have my namecheck completed. From FBI reply to my FOIPA, there is no records to my name. So no reason at all for the more than 2 years processing.

Same situation. My wife's cleared in Dec 2002, and I am still waiting.

Do they approve the other case if the dependent's namecheck is pending? Please reply as I am in the same situation. Thanks!

In my case, I am the primary, so though my wife's name check cleared in Dec 02, we both are waiting. To answer your question, yes the primary can be approved (if the name check has cleared) and the dependent put on hold till the dependent's name check clears.

You may be right. However, my lawyer informed me that some officers prefer to adjudicate the related cases together and not individually as they consider the folder incomplete at the time of initial review. In my case, I am waiting on my wife's namecheck clearance.

Who knows, I saw multiple instances on this board where the dependent was approved and the primary was waiting and vice versa.

I hope it doesn't take forever! But if the case is stuck with the FBI, there's little that you can effectively do to push the case, other than keep inquiring with USCIS/FBI/Elected representatives.

There are folks in this forum with RDs 4 - 5 months earlier than mine, still waiting for that elusive approval.
 
Is the name check done once or every time we do FP? I remember reading somewhere that it is done once but I am not sure. Really appreciate if someone could throw light on this.
 
Long waiting

Hi:

I am in the same boat. My friend whose RD is 09/2001 just got approved after his name check is cleared. My RD which is 08/2002 means a long waiting.

It's done just once. There's another check called IBIS (Interagency Border Inspection System) - this can be done several times over the course of your petition as this check has a validity time frame. However, the good news about this check is that it is done on USCIS computers. This is the system that port of entry officers use when you enter the country.
