Question for Gurus

My wife is working on EAD (I am the primary applicant on GC). She will quit work shortly as she is near her pregnancy due date.

Question: Will my claiming disability benefit from California Disability Insurance (SDI) affect my GC process.

Does anyone have any experience on this.

SDI is not considered "public charge" therefore there should not be any problem with GC processing. Many lawyers, however, advise not to get SDI before getting GC for some reason (I don't know specifics..).

It is apparently a grey area....Talk to a lawyer before going ahead with this...
